Lego’s new Classic Batmobile quickly became a bestseller when it released on October 1. It was so popular, in fact, that two days later the Lego Store changed the listing to backordered for two months. Amazon followed suit by adjusting the delivery window to stretch into December. The Lego Store still lists a 60-day shipping estimate as of October 18, but Amazon has restocked the 1,822-piece Classic Batmobile and is ready to ship it today. Prime members can get the latest Batman set this weekend, depending on your location. So if you were hoping to build a cool Batmobile based on the design from the 1966 TV series sooner than December, now’s your chance to snag one while Amazon has the set in stock.
$150
The 1966 Batmobile costs $150 and is a more in-depth build than some of the other smaller Lego Batmobiles. It comes with 1,822 pieces, and the completed build is 19 inches long and seven inches wide.
Like the source material, this is a sleek pursuit vehicle full of bat-gadgets. It has cool bat-features like molded windshields, an openable trunk with the Bat-computer inside, a rear jet engine, and an informative plaque to complete the display. Naturally, you’ll get a Batman minifigure to put in the driver’s seat, and he looks just like the Caped Crusader portrayed by the legendary Adam West. There’s even painted eyebrows on his cowl. Unfortunately, there’s no can of Bat-Shark Repellant in this set.
The new set isn’t the only incarnation of the Batmobile that has received the Lego treatment–far from it. Though some of Lego’s Batmobile sets are discontinued–the Batcave Shadow Box, which comes with a Batmobile, is retiring soon–there are still several available now at major retailers.
Lego Batman – Batmobile Sets
You can get the Batmobile from Tim Burton’s first Batman movie with minifigures of Batman and the Joker, an openable trunk, a cockpit for the minifigure, and two blasters under the hood for a discount at Amazon. Before you buy the 1989 Batmobile, check out Walmart’s 3-in-1 Lego Batman Gift Set, as it comes with that Batmobile, a Batwing set, and a Batman minifigure display set. This gift set is valued at $91, but it only costs $50.
Another budget option is the recently released Batmobile from the Batman: The Animated Series, which is priced at $60. This is a nice and compact build, and it includes minifigures of Batman, Mr. Freeze, and Harley Quinn. For the absolute cheapest option, this pocket-sized Batmobile is a fun lunchtime build for just $21.60.
On the pricier end of Batmobile Lego sets, you can grab the Tumbler from the Dark Knight trilogy. It’s a very cool 2,049-piece build, but it’s also significantly more expensive than the upcoming Batmobile–though it’s on sale for $220 at Amazon (down from $270). Or for something much more affordable, this pocket-sized Batmobile is a fun lunchtime build for just $22.
